For people selection

It assesses the level of business acumen in potential candidates, helping you identify leaders who can position the business to make money and add value to stakeholders.

Benefits

Boost business acumen across all levels of your organisation

Our detailed assessments provide insights into the strengths, weaknesses and opportunities to be explored in your candidates and built in your team.

Quest to understand business

People high in this factor understand the cost and value drivers of the business they are in. They want to know how the business works and how it links together to add value to stakeholders.

Reciprocal relationships

People who score high in this factor understand the importance of attending to the people side of business.  They establish easy, respectful, generous relationships. They develop business critical skills in their teams and they develop long term relationships with customers and suppliers.

Energised by business

Measure the individual motivation and energy levels to drive business results. High scores indicate an individual who brings passion to work and finds business exciting.

Strengths

Connecting to Understand: Sam is likely to actively seek out different ideas and perspectives in order to further his knowledge and build better business solutions.

Thinking Clarity: Sam appears to be confident in his ability to grasp the essence of complex business information and to identify the relevant points necessary for problem solving and decision making.

Areas to Explore

Incisive: Sam is likely to be less confident in his business insights, and may take longer to evaluate his business ideas or act on opportunities

Business Curiosity:
Sam seems to be as curious as most about business and, while he likes the business world, may not be especially engaged by it. He could be less inclined to actively search for business trend information, including competitor activity, but will attend to it when drawn to his attention.

Interview Questions

Incisive: Can you think of a time when you or others were too slow to pick up an opportunity. What happened, and why did it happen?

Business Curiosity:
Can you tell us about a situation where something captured your interest and led you to undertake further investigation or analysis? What was it that sparked your curiosity?

Tips for Managing the Candidate

Incisive: Because Sam is less comfortable trusting his instincts and problem solving abilities, he may at times be slow to respond.  In these occasions he may benefit from you proactively offering time and support to talk through his proposed solutions to problems or challenging business issues.

Business Curiosity:
Encourage Sam to read more widely about business and industry trends. Also encourage him to extend his professional networks and attend a broader range of professional meetings/seminars.

How it works

A complete analysis of people’s business acumen strengths, gaps, and development opportunities to support selection decisions and development planning.

Step #1

Participants/Candidates receive a link via email to complete the online assessment on the InSite platform.

Step #2

A confidential report is created and shared with the hiring manager/recruiter or with the participant themselves if completed as part of a development process.

Step #3

Verbal feedback is delivered within selection debriefs for the hiring manager and candidate, or with the participant directly within a development coaching conversation.

Step #4

The next steps are critical to gain full value from the assessment process. Insights are drawn into ongoing development and action planning which can be supported with blended learning resources and programmes.

“Organisations become more agile when their people, across all levels of the organisation, understand how the business operates and feel empowered to make decisions that are aligned with the business goals – when they have business acumen.,”
